For SPAN Photography, August has been a whirlwind of wonderful weddings. Thus far, we've celebrated with two amazing couples, and a third duo will tie the knot in a week. For us, this has meant a flurry of activity, as we've prepared our equipment, our ideas, and ourselves for each couple's nuptials.
We kicked off the month with a lovely and unique Scottish-meets-steampunk celebration for Nathaniel and Erika at St. Columba's church in upper northwest DC. We were in awe of the bright red dress and plumed hat that bride Erika wore, and groom Nathaniel was regal in his Gunn tartan kilt and authentic accessories. The wedding delighted at every turn - a bagpiper leading the procession out of the church, a surprise serenade of the couple by the groom's parents, and a poetic performance by professional modern dancers. We cannot wait to share the pictures in a few weeks!
Our second wedding was the elegant and long-awaited celebration of Dennis and Jack. Atop the Kennedy Center's balcony overlooking the Potomac River and Georgetown, these lovebirds of 28 years tied the knot in an intimate ceremony. Dapper in their matching gray suits, the duo led us around some of their favorite haunts inside the Kennedy Center and around Dupont Circle. The teaser photo (at right) only scratches the surface of the theatrical, loving, and fun couple's photo shoot with SPAN.
Finally, we're looking forward to witnessing the wedding of Brian and Adriana over Labor Day weekend. The traditional Catholic ceremony will take place in the ornately beautiful St. Matthew's cathedral. We're secretly anticipating the couple's tiny daughter, Maria, will do her best to steal the show.
Beyond August... we're booking additional weddings for the coming seasons. We'd love to be part of your special occasions, too!
